A man in Wales was fined for commingling paper and bottles/cans in his recyclables. He appealed and lost, which means he now has to bee court fees as well. Story here: Man loses recycling appeal (The Guardian). The irony is that the recycling program is voluntary. If he had commingled all his trash in his trash can, he would have been perfectly ok. Stacking incentives the right way apparently doesn’t come easily to the species.
